The Dulini team went above and beyond to craft an experience that felt effortless, heartfelt, and utterly unforgettable. Dulini River Lodge, Sabi Sands Dulini River Lodge sits along a seasonal river, shaded by towering trees and visited by resident wildlife. The lodge’s calm, refined aesthetic gave Chris & Alison’s wedding weekend a timeless canvas — think warm textures, river views, and the soundtrack of the bush.
The team created a fairytale ceremony in the middle of the bush, set on the sandy bank of a dry riverbed. Minimal, elegant florals and natural textures let the landscape lead the design. Vows carried across the bush as the late-afternoon light turned golden.
Two male lions were spotted laying in the riverbed. Safe, respectful distance was maintained by the expert Dulini rangers, but what an extraordinary moment — who else can say lions shared their wedding day backdrop?
Surrounded by their closest people who flew in from the UK, the day felt intimate and deeply personal. Dulini’s staff orchestrated seamless logistics, thoughtful surprises, and a private celebration that felt both luxurious and relaxed. The phrase “above and beyond” barely covers it.
As a safari wedding photographer in South Africa, I work with natural light, movement, and the ever-changing bush. From quiet pre-ceremony moments to riverbed vows and a starlit dinner, the focus was storytelling: authentic emotion, sense of place, and those in-between glances that say everything. Being out in nature truly feeds my creative soul.
We totally embraced the golden hour for portraits — warm tones against riverine trees, soft sand underfoot, and the vast sky opening up as the sun dipped. The Sabi Sands’ unique light wrapped everything in a gentle glow.
Dinner unfolded under a sky full of constellations, with crackling firelight, curated cuisine, and speeches that sparked both laughter and tears. A celebration that felt grounded, generous, and purely them.
